A KILLING IN THE VALLEY by JF FREEDMAN --UNPUTDOWNABLE!!!

Someone gave me A KILLING IN THE VALLEY by JF FREEDMAN to read. I wasn't sure what to expect. HELLO--Pageturner! I couldn't wait for a free moment to read it. LOVED it...

A young man is accused of a murder at his grandmother's ranch, where he happened to be visiting briefly with his college friend, Tyler before the 2 return to college. A few hours unaccounted for and some circumstantial evidence, leads to a race to prove his innocence.

This book had you guessing right to the very end. I enjoyed every moment.

In terms of character development I have a few questions about the Sophia, the daughter of Kate Blanchard, a private investigator working for the defense and now that I think about it, Kate herself. There were also a few graphic sex scenes that were a bit unnecessary...I wonder if others will agree with me on that). But overall, it didn't make me like the book any less. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Here's a fact I learned about this book that was published in the following article by By Matt Kettmann in the Santa Barbara Independent:

"There is...a slight catch to obtaining a copy of Freedman's latest novel. After releasing his previous books through Penguin and then Warner Books, Freedman found a new publisher in Madison Park Press, the imprint that Bookspan;which owns all of the major book clubs in the country;launched in October 2005. That means that the only way to buy A Killing in the Valley is to join one of BookSpan 35-plus book clubs, from the self-explanatory Book-of-the-Month Club (bomc.com) and Doubleday Book Club (doubledaybookclub.com) to zooba.com and the Literary Guild. (In the future, the book may be released in bookstores as a paperback.)"

That means that you can't get A KILLING IN THE VALLEY by JF FREEDMAN for any price on Amazon. Get it for $9.95 on Zooba.com!

Checking up on a few past reads:

This book falls to #7 on the NYT Bestseller List.

THE EXPECTED ONE falls off the list...
