A little sun, a lot of rain...Lots of Reading

I read two books this vacation. THE THIRTEENTH TALE and WATER FOR ELEPHANTS both Excellent and highly recommended. Here's the review for the THIRTEENTH TALE (I'll do WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, tomorrow).

My friend gave me the book THE THIRTEENTH TALE by Diane Setterfield, and said that it was, "slow in the beginning...but once it picked up, it was a very good read." Having read the book for myself, I can say I thoroughly agree!

In the debut novel THE THIRTEENTH TALE, Margaret Lea, a London bookseller's daughter is mysteriously contacted by renowned aging author Vida Winter, who is finally ready to tell her life story. Vida, known for leading biographers astray with false stories, promises to tell Margaret the truth. But there are rules...Margaret must learn Vida's story day by day, when and where Vida is ready to tell it, and she cannot jump ahead...she must wait for the full story to unfold.

I was mesmorized, as I learned the story of twins Adeline and Emmeline, a mysterious house called Angelfield...and finally, like Margaret, I learn the true story of Vida. Setterfield is a great storyteller! I highly recommend this debut novel.
